Tib File Restore

From the home screen of DiscWizard, click Recovery on the left and then click Browse for backup. Under Computer/File Explorer, browse for the drive on which the image (.TIB file) is stored. Once you have selected the image, click OK. Right-click on the backup and click Recover. Select to Recover. By default, standard file shares can span only up to 5 TiB, although the share limit can be increased to 100 TiB. To do this, large file share feature must be enabled at the storage account-level. Premium storage accounts ( FileStorage storage accounts) don't have the large file share feature flag as all premium file shares are already enabled. The format of local backups can be easily figured out by looking at the backup file's name extension, whether it is the new.tibx or older.tib. If the backup is stored in Acronis Cloud, the product's user interface does not display the used format anywhere and does not allow to change it. If something happens to the hard drive or the user's data becomes lost or corrupt, the data can be restored using the TIB file that the user created. In addition to restoring an entire hard drive, users can also use the.tib files that have been created by the Acronis True Image software to restore individual folders on the hard drive in case.

this is what my file looks like: Entire PC (BECKYB-DESKTOP)_full_b42_s1_v1 Date modified: 2/14/2019

Type: TIB file Size: 618,209,101 KB PROPERTIES: Size on disk: 589 GB

My problem: purchased a Seagate backup drive (2013) that backed up this file 2.14.19. Thought I was ok because I could see this compressed file.

Microsoft had me wipe my computer. Did not think this was a problem because I had my backup on my Seagate Backup Plus drive.

Seagate could not help because they said at the time I purchased this Seagate Backup Plus, Acronis was with Seagate and now, they are no longer with Seagate. Called Acronis and started a chat and the tech person said he could not help. I had the Microsoft person on the phone with me at the time.

I see I can call Acronis and give them my credit card for help but have no idea what they will charge. Also, if they cannot help, will I still need to pay? No person I can ask. No simple way to find out.

Frustrating because the tech people are all so disconnected (in India) and they can just stop chatting or can just simply hang up.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS RESTORE THIS FILE,

Entire PC (BECKYB-DESKTOP)_full_b42_s1_v1,

TO MY HARDDRIVE. I DID DRAG AND DROP IT FROM THE HARD DRIVE ON TO MY DESK TOP. THOUGHT MAYBE IF I DOULBE CLICKED IT WOULD OPEN - BUT NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO TELL ME HOW TO DO A SIMPLE RESTORE PERTAINING TO THIS FILE.

Seagate is supposed to be a company who could help with their products they sell. Acronis was part of that company but no longer is. So neither company will accept any responsibility for support. This is all extremely frustrating!

Microsoft said they will check further (but don't know if I will ever hear back)

please let me know if I have any options.

Acronis

Thank you.

Becky, welcome to these public User Forums.

Your Entire PC (BECKYB-DESKTOP)_full_b42_s1_v1.tib file is a complex container file containing one or more disk images of your source disk drive(s) created via the Seagate OEM version of Acronis True Image.

To recover the contents of this file to your computer you need to boot from a copy of the Acronis Rescue Media, which raises the next question here, which is: do you have a copy of the rescue media, or do you have the Seagate OEM ATI application installed on another computer from which to create the rescue media.

If you do not have the rescue media and don't have the Seagate software, then I would recommend downloading a 30-day Trial copy of Acronis True Image 2019 from the main Acronis.com website, this will allow you to create a copy of the rescue media for that version, which in turn will allow you to recover your backup image to your computer.

Please see the following documents for further information on the process for recovering your computer:

KB 59877: Acronis True Image: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media

This document is important as the Acronis bootable rescue media must be booted in the same way that your Windows 10 OS uses.

Note: recovering your backup image .tib file will wipe out your current Windows 10 OS on your computer in order to recreate the disk & partition structure held in the image file. Normally I would recommend making a backup of any existing Windows OS before doing a recovery but the trial version of ATI does not permit backups to be made from the rescue media, so if you wish to protect the installed Windows OS, you need to install the trial ATI 2019 application and make the backup from within Windows but being very careful not to overwrite the file you want to recover from!

Description

Archive 12 format is a main archive type for Acronis Backup 12.5. It is used to back up any data, including mobile data, applications, application-aware backup, MacOS, Oracle DB etc

It is a single .tibx file for each backup chain: Full or Differential + all Incremental files that depend on it

Metadata is stored inside the archive, checksummed and verified (there is no separate xml file for metadata).

Introduction

Acronis True Image 2020 introduced a new backup format - .tibx, which is even more reliable and convenient. The .tibx format is used for disk backups created to internal drives, external drives, network storage.

One of the main changes in this new backup format is that the .tibx format saves full and differential backup versions as separate files, while incremental backup versions are automatically merged into their base full backups.

Description

Symptoms

  1. You create a plan to backup disks/partitions with the following parameters:
    • Backup format: Version 12 (.tibx)
    • Where to backup: internal or external disk
    • Backup scheme: full backup + differential backups
    • Cleanup: by number of backups (e.g. maximum number of backups= 3)
  2. You run the backup task several times;

A: See Acronis True Image 2020: tib and tibx backup format usage

Introduction

Recent versions of Acronis True Image have brought a new backup format: tibx. The format of local backups can be easily figured out by looking at the backup file's name extension, whether it is the new .tibx or older .tib.

If the backup is stored in Acronis Cloud, the product's user interface does not display the used format anywhere and does not allow to change it. This article explains how to find out the format of backup, stored in Acronis Cloud.

In the list of backups, you see one or more archives that have not user-fiendly names.

If you attempt to browse this archive, e.g. check the recovery points, you receive an error message:

Failed to resolve the backup.
Failed to open the backup archive by the ID.
